Impatiently:

Waiting for Spring....

Waiting for Spring.... by nsaich featuring a bow shirt

I've said it once, I will likely say it 1,000+ more times but I am SO looking forward to Spring time. The frost melting away to reveal fresh floral print dresses, pastel polishes adorning my nails, and warm weather produce surfacing at the local farmer's market. Valentine's Day is also around the corner which is one of my favorite holidays! I never really need an excuse to tell others how much I adore them but Valentines Day makes my habits seem less unusual. I also believe that February 14th is one of those days toward the beginning of Spring where I get to create a ton of goodies to satisfy any sweet tooth! For example these peanut butter cups or some baked mini donuts. For now I'm waiting out Winter wrapped up in cozy blankets with a warm drink and picking out my favorite Spring style selections on Polyvore

How are you hibernating these chilly days?

Yours,
Nico

November Wedding:

Untitled #83

Untitled #83 by nsaich featuring coach handbags

Next month I am attending a Fall wedding and I couldn't be more thrilled for my two close friends Bianca and Johnathan! When I met Bianca for the first time she instantly asked me if she could show me a photograph of her wedding dress, when I asked if she was engaged she said no, but that one day she would be! Now that a few years have gone by since that initial ice breaking conversation, I have become good friends with Johnathan (Bianca's fiance') as well developing an even closer friendship with Bianca in the process. Currently we are busy creating centerpieces and displays for her special day (think deep navy, gold, and petal pink, plus a unique theme!). Their wedding also happens to fall on my birthday, which means I have two reasons to get all  dressed up that day!
I picked up this Kirna Zabete for Target (featured above) dress the last time I was out and about and I just know it will be perfect for a Fall wedding. I plan on wearing the dress with this coach bag that was featured in Tuesday's post. What do you guys think? I've still got plenty of time to put things together so I'd love your stylish advice!

Yours,
Nico

Handbag Haven:

My blogger friend Paris and I like to do something called "pretend shopping." Meaning we scour all our favorite web sites essentially "window shopping" from the comfort of our own homes and at the end of the venture we swap our favorite online finds. Anyway, while "pretend shopping" for vintage handbags on ebay.com I decided to check out my own personal handbag collection and I realized I really don't need anything new! Sometimes instead of looking at all the things you don't own, its better to "shop within your closet." Rediscover items you forgot about or sell the items you no longer use at a consignment store!

These are the hidden gems found in
my stash of purses that I have been
collecting over the last several years:

Handbags clockwise from top middle:
1: Lavender snakeskin embossed Michael Kors drawstring bag
2: Grey leather bag with gunmetal hardware by
3: Chocolate brown leather vintage Gucci bag
4: Marc Jacobs studded "Large Single" bag
(featured here)
5: White patent leather Kate Spade clutch (seen here)
6: Vintage BCBG Maz Azria gold clutch
7: Red vintage coach bag (last worn here)
8: Brown leather coach clutch
9: Hayden-Harnett for Target tan and gold
shoulder bag (see what I carry in this bag here)
10: Random grey faux fur studded clutch scored
at a vintage shop
11: Large black leather Chloe bag

Nico

PS, don't forget to store your purses in their dust bags to reduce damage!

Polka dots for happy hour:

On Tuesday I found myself walking down the train tracks to happy hour at El Palomar's taco bar in downtown Santa Cruz. Happy hour includes the most delicious two dollar tacos and $4.50 margaritas on the rocks all starting at 5pm! Our plan was to get slightly shwasted but the margs ended up being slightly sub par that day (typically d'lish though!). The weather was still as sweaty and hot as ever so I thought this transparent polka dot shirt would be a clear winner for the occasion. Also I'm taking a fashion tip from my high school friend and blogger buddy Rheannia, view her favorite fall trends here.

A trip to the central valley:

Recently I found myself taking yet another quick trip out of town. This time I found myself in my home town of Stockton, California to visit family! While I was there I managed to eat a lot of delicious food, check in at my favorite thrift stores, play dress up in my gram's jewelry box, and spend a lot of time with the people I love. Here's just some of the highlights of my trip:

Digging thru bins of old ties at a local thrift store for the two best finds! The red paisley one is by Christian Dior and the plaid tie on the right is designed by Ben Sherman. Both of these together cost me less than a meal at McDonald's!

My Gram's cat just had a liter of
the most adorable kittens ever:

Yummy home made Spagetti:

Playing dress up with Gram's Gems:

The best thrift store find in Lodi, California! A like new red coach messenger bag and for only $35 bucks! There was one in the same style but in black that I wanted also but I thought the red would add a nice pop of color to most any outfit:

Nico

Nico's Most Wanted List:

Okay look, I may not be able to afford most of these but I figured, it's MY "most wanted list" so I will select items as I see fit! I feel like these are the pieces I would splurge on anyway if I could. Killer shoes, classic handbags, and stunning scarves will with stand the test of time in your wardrobe plus they ALWAYS fit perfectly:

Mixed metal watch by Michael Kors
would match any ensemble:

Alexander McQueen scarves in a plethora of
colors, I would wear the black on white
version with everything if I had my way!

I am full on obsessed with this YSL Arty Ring Oval Ring
I dream about it at night and I write it love letters:

B. Brian Atwood shoe, unreleased. I lust over this shoe.
I would feel like a million bucks in this pair, wouldn't you? :
(this photo does not live up to the shoe's appeal, try this link!)

A fall to winter harness style boot perfect
for over skinny jeans, under wide leg
trousers, or with a dress and tights:

Supple chocolate brown leather, two carrying options for versatility, and gold detailing make this bag the number one priority on "Nico's Most Wanted List." The Coach Classic Court Bag is the cornerstone of any good wardrobe:

...What makes your most wanted list?

Nico

Shoe In.

Functional shoes:
Basics for every outfit/occasion
and wardrobe staples for life.
(prices range from $79 to $285)

Statement Shoes:
They may not go with everything but they sure are pretty!
(Prices range from $130 to $1,495! I hope the shoe
box also doubles as a studio apartment!)

Which would you choose?

The Jeffery Campbell's are the clear winner for me. Not only is the price tag much easier to look at, but I love the black and nude color combo!

Yours,
Nico
