Desperately Seeking Inspiration:

Stems from the farmer's market bring the smell of Spring to my beside table.

To put matters bluntly, I have been feeling very uninspired as of late. Typically a simple trip to the grocery store or farmer's market ignites a creative culinary thought. Organizing my closet usually leads to finding old items that feel like new once they have been rediscovered. However, none of my usual tactics for finding inspiration have worked. Perhaps it's my new school work load or the recent loss in my family but I have not felt up to the idea of creating much of anything interesting to share with you all. Instead of forcing the issue further, I have instead collected a few images that I hope will remind me of how vivacious life can be.

Painting vintage brooches for added color and style.

A delicious way to eat your vegetables. Pea and carrot candy.

Watching my boyfriend sketch is always captivating.

Sugar cookies that not only taste good but smile back at you!

A burning Santa Cruz sunset, complete with
colors that would make any artist swoon.

To all of my inspiring readers, how do you keep yourself creative and motivated?

Yours,
Nico

  1. Thanks for the congrats on my blog! I'm so excited too!

Your pictures are so beautiful and vibrant Nico! That's a great drawing your boyfriend did - how cool! As for me, I stay creative and motivated through my surroundings and, of course, bloggers. ;)

    Have a great day dear!

  2. Haha, are those jelly belly beans and carrots?! I think they are so cute!

I stay inspired by taking walks outside, watching my favorite movies or reading my favorite books, and keeping an "inspiration book" where I keep magazine clippings and ideas for outfits, decor, ect.

  3. It's definitely hard! I have been feeling the same way lately. Stress, I think.
I like to peruse Pinterest for pretty pics and inspiration. These pics are so pretty and your boyfriend is talented!
Sorry for the loss in your family. : (

  5. Nico, that is totally understandable. That happens and don't force it! Write about your feelings or today's events. One of my readers has a picture of the day segment (where she captures her days events in pictures). There's nothing wrong when it comes to blogging. Do what you feel and don't feel stressed out to have "certain" posts. ((HUG))

  6. Love fresh flowers! When I'm uninspired I usually walk away and get back to what makes me happy... walks with my dog, glass of wine and a good book... typically something inspiring follows when I'm not actively looking for it :)

  7. Hmm, its always tough when you get uninspired!
These images are lovely though, and I adore the smiling cookie :)
Usually to be inspired, all I have to do is go through my favorite bloggers posts. Or browse through a thrift store and have fun finding kooky things and imagining how I would style it.
I'm sure you'll find the inspiration needed!

  8. Nico, I know the feeling! It is hard..to always feel inspired, find the inspiration that speaks to you, and channeling it into something of your own. Sometimes if you can't feel inspired do something basic. Talk about a recent discovery, a new restaurant you've been to. You'll find something to talk about I am sure :)

  9. Aw, I love daffodils. They are my favorite. Our neighbor has some blooming and there are snowdrops in back alley but otherwise spring hasn't really shown it's face. I'm waiting patiently though because I know when it arrives it will be glorious.

  11. Cute pictures! When I feel uninspired or just blah, I pick up a book or a magazine and just read. I'll feel better soon enough! :)

  12. Love these! I know how that can feel. I usually go to the ocean and have some quiet time. It's usually when I get away from everything, that my brain gets the chance to take over and start spouting out ideas. It always happens at the ocean or anywhere completely quiet. I know you'll find some inspiration soon, just give yourself time :) Have a wonderful weekend doll xx

  13. Oh Nico, I know exactly how you feel, these are those moments when I feel that nothing I do is right...I usually get away from my computer, grab a magazine or a fashion book (Rachel Zoe´s one and Coco Chanel´s memoir are constant sources of inspiration), drink a cup of hot chocolate and just relax. It´s always better in the morning :) I keep my fingers crossed for you!

    Hugs, honey :)
