Apple Pie:

This year has been on of first for me. For one, I made my very first pumpkin pie (recipe here) and that particular pie was also the first that I've actually enjoyed eating because I'm not the biggest pie fan! However all that is beginning to change because I also tried my hand at making an apple pie that was as equally delicious as the pumpkin flavor. I feel like every holiday dinner deserves to have a (mostly) home made pie included for dessert, here's my new favorite recipe:

Magic Ingredients:
-6 granny smith apples peeled and diced into cubes
-2 premade pie crusts (if they are frozen, defrost them before hand)
-2 tablespoons ground nutmeg
-2 tablespoons allspice
-1 cup granulated sugar
-1/2 cup brown sugar
-2 tablespoon cornstarch (dissolved in two tablespoons of water)
-1 egg

Let's Get Started!
1: In a large pot, mix together the cubed apples with all of the ingredients (besides the egg and pie crusts!) Cook on medium heat until the sugars dissolve and the apples are fork tender (about 10 minutes)

2: Remove from heat and let cool completely (very important step!)

3: Grease a pie pan with nonstick cooking spray and line with one of the pie crusts. Fill the lined pie pan with the apple mixture. Cover the pie with the second pie crust making sure to crimp the two edges of the crust together with a fork.

4: Coat the top of the pie with an egg wash (beat an egg and use a paint brush to glaze over the entire pie) Sprinkle the top with sugar and apple pie spice. Finally, poke a few holes in the top of the pie with a knife (to release steam while the pie is baking)

5: Bake the pie in the oven at 375 degrees until the crust is golden and crisp!

And that's all it takes to create
sweet and flavorful apple confection!

Yours,
Nico
