Frozen ingredient made FRESH!

Frozen pie crust has to be one of my absolute favorite ingredients and I never even use it for actual pies! The brand I buy thaws in ten minutes (so convenient!) and is so incredibly flakey and buttery. Pie crust is the perfect canvas for just about any sweet or savory dish plus it's available in most every grocery store. Check out these examples of how to prepare my personal favorite ingredient:

Ricotta and tomato tart:

Strawberry galette:

Peach tart:

  1. I love frozen pie crusts too!! There's a store in the Sacramento/ Davis area called Nugget and they have one that isn't made with any animal fat (since many of them sadly are) and so I can actually enjoy using it, even as a veggie! lol Plus they also make a whole wheat kind that I am obsessed with! Glad I'm not the only frozen pie crust user :)

  2. What a great idea! I've yet to make a tart but I just bought frozen shortcrust pastry. Will definitely try it out now. Your tarts look absolutely divine!
